Bonnie in Ok
I know I've seen somewhere about removal of bleeding fabrics onto other fabric can someone tell me where to find it or what to do?
lisae
Hi, Bonnie, If you are able to wash the quilt, use Synthrapol in VERY HOT water. Synthrapol is available from some quilt shops or from Dharma Trading Company. Good luck!
Quilting Heidi
Bonnie, Here is an old thread with some trick. If you do a search for synthrapol on the forum you will find many posts on the topic. Remember to go all the way back to the beginning. http://www.apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=15051&page=1#pid160631
Bonnie in Ok
Okay couldn't think of the product name to do a search on. Thanks. I have it in the wash and still wet and was thinking I could go get something to put in the wash to pull the color out. any ideas?
Quilting Heidi
Get the synthrapol and dye catchers. Is it bleeding a lot? make sure you keep it in lots of water.
Bonnie in Ok
okay will do that and do have it in lots of water. Not terribly but the ivory is now a pink tint. Will go get what I can hopefully Walmart has something. Joanns is about an hour away so if all else fails will make a trip. Thanks!
ffq-lar
So sorry Bonnie! Yes yes to Synthropol. Dye Catchers are no longer available in my area so I picked up Carbona sheets (like a terry washcloth) and they work well. Once you have as much removed, treat it with Retayne, which will stabilize the remaining dye for future washings. Retayne available usually right next to the Synthropol. Good luck! srichardson
Bonnie, I regularly use Shout Color Catcher sheets in the washing machine. I have found them at both the grocery store and Walmart. I know that the Woolite Dye Magnet sheets are no longer available. I too use Synthrapol and Retayne. Good luck, Sue
Ferret
There are also run removing products. Over here they are sold in the supermarket with the washing powder (laundry detergent). Ferret
