anniemueller
I need better lighting to see thread when it blends closely with the fabric. Today I'm stitching yellow thread on yellow fabric, and it is toooooo hard to see. I've read old posts on side lighting. I tried what I have to work with today, and it only helped a little. I would love to see pictures of your side lighting set up! Thanks.
witha'K'quilting
Barb sets a desk lamp on each side of the table to cast side light. I find that turning off the machines light helps too.
njquiltergirl
Annie, I've turned all the lights off and just had the light from a window...that gave me the side light for times like that. Good luck!
anniemueller
Thanks Kristina and Lisa! My window side light worked fine today, until the light faded. I tried a small halogen light, but the light doesn't reach very far. I didn't think about laying the light across the bars.....or setting lamps on the table. I'll try those next. ffq-lar
You can find an under-cabinet fluorescent fixture at Home Depot or Lowe's. Mine is 22" long with a plastic cover and has a cord long enough to reach an outlet. I turn it on and lay it across the two top rollers. Turn off the overheads and your machine light and there ya go! Cost--about 20 bucks.
