Busy Quilting
To get myself a Towa gauge. 3 years after I started quilting....what a fool was I. The motor on my Turbo Winder burnt out in the middle of winding bobbins for a quilt.... what do I use. An old featherweight with the thread through the bobbin winding tension of my Janome 6600, a piece of batting etc. SLOW...SLOW SLOW but it did the job. One bobbin was very loose once I used the Janome to help they were tighter. I was easily able to get the right tension for my machine by using the Towa. Even the loosey goosey bobbin stitched good. If it had been in the domestic I would have had problems. I know what number my Longarm loves and now I can get any bobbin to that number easily. LOVE that Towa! Busy Quilting
For the bobbins I wind myself I have found 160-180 to be the best. Each bobin needs testing. AS it empties you can hear it rattling and I retest it in the towa. Lyn

mswings
Thanks Lyn, I have a Towa but am still having tension problems. I don't know how to fix it. I've watched the info on the disc I have from APQS. I've worked on my top tension and my bottom tension and still get railroad tracks. I guess I'll just keep trying.
