gardenslug
5 cents per mile not enough to deliver. Probably10 years ago DH and I figured out costs of driving car. We get approx. 70,000 mmiles on set of tires. Cost back then was 10 cents per mile just to replace tires. And - - gas was nowhere near as expensive as now. Would not deliver for less than 40 cents per mile. Know that sounds high, but do the math and you will be surprised.
QuiltFaerie
What about just packing it up and shipping it to her? It would probably be cheaper than a tank of gas.
Stagecl
Many companies pay 40 cents per mile when driving ones own car. My husbands company does. I mail for my long distant customers. It takes too long to drive everywhere. I, also, drop off at the quilt shops so the customers go there to get their quilts. I live 30 miles away from the closest quilt shop.
