Grammie
I need some brown/dark brown thread color options. I am ordering So fine Chocolate today and the Dark brown Bottom Line. I'm not convinced they will be dark enough for this quilt to match the bacground which is a rich brown color. Any other browns you can suggest. I was sure I had the right color until I went to use it and it looks to light. The dark brown #648 bottom line may work but I'm doing a fast order today. sewingupastorm
I would order the darker brown the better. I think erring on the dark side would be better on this quit as the print has really dark brown. It is a stunning quilt and I can't wait to see what you are going to do with it! Jhend
Look beyond what you see. Try another color. My customers are always suprised when I pull out a color that is totally beyond what they thought would work only to find it was perfect. Like dark purple on black. Check the color wheel and see what goes. Good luck
ramona-quilter
Tammie, Aurifil makes some beautiful browns (Bitter chocolate, coconut, nutmeg, cypress, brown, warm brown, bark, gold brown and more). I have never used Aurifil but I have heard good things about it. You can see those colors at http://www.thatthreadshop.com/makochart1.htm and http://www.redrockthreads.com/aurifil-thread/aurifil-thread-makosolid50/color_chart.asp Be sure to post the "AFTER" photos so we can all see what you did. QuiltedCat
Hi Grammie: I did a Chocolate quilt just before Christmas for a quilt shop here. The chocholate is so dark I could not match it so I used Superior King Tut #992, Pinecone (in the new 25 threads). It was lovely, the variations fit in nicely. So fine chocolate #424 has a "golden" effect. Bottom Line #648 Dark Brown- I am out of it! Since purchasing LongArm Supplies I have become a threadholic so I must take some time to talk to the fabric! Have fun, Linda
