elkayr
would an 8 grid chain block be considered a traditional quilt block?
RitaR
I'm not understanding what you mean about an 8 grid or a chain block, and how it would apply to your project. Maybe a bit more info,, pict would be best. Or, could look for it on line at Traditional Quilt Designs.. I think that is the name. Hope you have a solution soon. ffq-lar
Yep, I can't picture it either. Is it a 64-patch (eight blocks by eight blocks)? Most chain blocks have the same or similar colored squares running through the corners on a diagonal. If the block is 8x8, the diagonals from corner to corner would meet in the center and form a 4 patch of the same color. And the blocks sewn in rows would have the same 4 patch at the seam intersections. It makes a lovely quilt but I don't know the name of the block. If that's what you're talking about, yes, it is a traditional block and lovely used as an alternate block for a sampler quilt.
elkayr
My bee is exchanging friendship blocks. One of the ladies wants a 12" traditional block. I was trying to pick something that would go well with the blocks that have already been done. I like this one but not sure if it's considered a traditional block. I found this in EQ7.
