mscott2611
Help, Had anyone ever "Repadded" their brake? The padding on my brake has gotten so thin that no matter how much I tighten the nut it will loosen before the end of a quilt and not keep the tension on the quilt while it is quilting. GMALKB
I just put a piece of that shelf liner around the pole and it worked fine. No slipping.
cathyh
I have replaced the padding on my brake with the soft side of Velcro, super sticky glue on version, 2" I think. Joann's has it, or most hardware stores. You have to get the old one off and clean the old glue off also. I have to say, GMALKB's suggestion sounds great, and easier! mscott2611
What a great idea with the shelf liner. I will give that a try tonight since I am working on a quilt and I have shelf liner in the house. Mary
Primitive1
I have put new velcro on (the soft side) but shelf liner would definitely work too and maybe keep it from loosening up....
connieb
I just placed a piece of cotton batting in mine. It was driving me crazy the glue was sticking to the bar. It's working great.
sewingpup
I needed to fix mine.....I removed the Velcro, cleaned off the residue with "goo by gone", then cleaned that with rubbing alcohol and reapplied the Velcro...been working fine....I take care to loosen the ;brake before advancing the quilt....I do not have auto advance...Lin
loraquilts
I was having the same problem. Ended up replacing the Velcro with some I ordered from APQS (very cheap), and now the brakes work perfectly.
Quilting Heidi
I too have had to replace the velcro but I'll have to remember the shelf liner for the next time.
