Sew Many Friends
Does anyone just keep their ruler plate on? I inow it takes up some quilting depth but then you can use any tool when ever Just curious
dbams
I don't, but I think it's just a matter of personal preference. I do put it on when I am marking something on the quilt, even if I will not be using rulers to stitch that area.
srichardson
The only time I take mine off is when I need to clean underneath it.
roseA
I used to leave mine on until I noticed it slightly reduces the quilting space between the bars. I don’t really like to advance more times. And if my back is pieced, it can catch or rub on the fabric and seams.
quiltmonkey
It depends. If I'm going to do a lot of custom work, I leave my RulerMate bolted on. It doesn't get in the way or cause problems. mswings
mswings
I love my RulerMate. I leave it on all the time, except for cleaning. I just wish I could get a new one for my 2018 Millie that's coming.
loraquilts
I too love my Ruler Mate. I left it on my Ultimate I all the time. It didn't interfere with the leveler bar or the quilt top roller. I love love loved it. I was very sad that I couldn't get a Ruler Mate for my Millie. I made the mistake of buying the Harley base expander and I hate it. It tips and wiggles, doesn't attach securely, ugh! sooo frustrating. If anyone knows of a Ruler Mate for the Millie 30, please please let me know. Not sure how old the info on this site is, but looks like they sell the ruler mate for the Millie. Might be worth checking out. Good luck! http://www.lovetoquilt.com/longarm_quilting_accessories/rulermate_apqs.htm
mswings
The Ruler Mate can stay on the machine. It bolts to the frame and doesn’t move at all
MarilynS
My Hartley, ordered new when purchasing my 2007 machine from A QS has never worked. My brand new machine came with a thread cutter. I was sent the wrong base.
