chickenscratch
Some of you might remember when I posted this quilt and needed ideas. She wanted all over edge to edge ivy. So this is what i came up with. Nothing fancy, and I personally don't like the look of it, especially with that generic high loft polyester batting, but I hope the customer likes it. chickenscratch
Sorry about the pictures, It's hard to photograph ivory thread on ivory fabric.
PattyJo
Hi Teresa I think that your customer will be pleased. You did exactly what she asked for. sometimes, I don't think that customers realize what we could do to make their quilts sing (as they say). This one is humming, but not due to your decisions. Great job giving the customer what she wanted.
Jeannine
Teresa, Great job, I am about to start a similar quilt for a new baby coming in March. I have to get started now, because there are going to be 2 baby's born around the same time that will both need quilts.
TishMarshall
It came out nice. I'm with you about the batting. Don't like that highloft stuff. Good job on the photo, it shows your work well. Tish
Sheri Butler
Teresa, you did exactly what the customer wanted, and GOOD FOR YOU! The quilting does look wonderful tho! It seems like i hardly ever agree with what someone wants on a quilt, but that is what makes us each individuals! And I also dont care for high loft poly batting either... ffq-lar
Teresa--What a pretty ivy meander! I love the different sizes of leaves. Too bad the stitching is not so prominent on the top side--very lovely stitching.
kennan100
I have a question now. Why not liking high loft batting? I've heard this from several LAer's. Remember, I don't have my machine yet, I know there's got to be some kind of technical reason that makes it undesireable.
Quiltsinmotion
Kenna I think batting is a personal thing , I have done a few quilts for clients that wanted a high loft batting , on one quilt I used two 1/2 high loft batting client wanted a lot of puff , puff she got . Seems to me that most show quilts are using cotton batting with very dense quilting which to me gives the quilt a flat look . I like to try all types of batting , so far haven't had any trouble with any of the ones that I have used .
chickenscratch
I like the look of high loft batting, when it's done by hand. But my machine hates the stuff. Add bumpy seams to fluffy batting and it gets kind of hard to drive over all that stuff. Imagine driving through mud and over speed bumps in one of those lowered to the ground trucks that the kids are all driving. Not a pretty sight. quiltjunkie
You did a nice job, but I'm with you on the batting..It's fine when they don't want much quilting but it sure doesn't show it off with all that puff...but I'm sure she will be very happy as you did exactly what she wanted.
