Cheryll
We are in route to spend 3-6 months in Jamestown. No Millie and no sweet little dogs. No first grand daughter at Christmas. Is there anyone on our chat who lives in this area or any ideas for making a new home for the holidays when you are far from home. My husband is Jewish so Christmas isn't one of his big holidays. Ha Ha the farther we go the colder it gets. Idaho can be cold but I think it's going to get a whole lot colder.
Stagecl
Yep....a whole lot colder is just about right. Having lived in Minnesota moving from Des Moines, IA (and I thought that was cold) it was a shock to the system. Hope you brought lots of warm clothing. chickenscratch
Okay, who lives near Jamestown, ND; so Cheryll will have a machine to use once in a while. Longarm withdrawal can be serious, from what I understand. Jitters, angry outbursts, mood swings, night sweats, bad dreams... she has to have a machine to use, or her DH is in for a really bad time. Hawaii
Hey Cheryl, keep us posted on how you are handling you Longarm withdrawal. MMMMMMMM - you could schedule a break to Hawaii and play with "Freedom" to get out of the ND cold! Seriously, though, will see you at MQS - got all my classes - WOOHOO! quiltmonkey
Hi Cheryll, Hey, I just checked out Jamestown\'s COC web site. It looks like a very pretty place with those two big lakes nearby. And, from the looks of the map, you are smack dab right in the middle between two larger cities (Bismarck and Fargo) -- really, just 1 1/2 hour drive in either direction and you are in a bigger town that surely has lots of quilty things and quilty events. If you can\'t find many things "quilty" in Jamestown, have you checked out Bismarck and Fargo? I\'ve venture to bet that in between the 1 1/2 hour drive east or west to Bismarck or Fargo, you are going to find some quilters in those little farm towns in between. Seek and you shall find. Here\'s a blog web site for a longarm quilter, Darcie, in Bismarck. Maybe you can contact her? It looks like other quilters post on her blog, so there you go...you got a community there! http://quiltingbydarcie.blogspot.com/2007/08/binding-agreement_23.html Here is a web site for the "Capital Quilters" http://www.ndcapitalquilters.org/ OK, enough coffee for me today!! Here\'s a link to some quilty folks in Fargo: http://www.ndquilts.com/ Here is a list of some quilt shops in North Dakota. Probably not all of them... your best bet is to contact some quilters on the links above for all the shops and quilty events. http://www.americanquilter.com/members/shops/?state=ND I know this is hard for you to leave your home in Boise and your baby grand daughter, and it\'s scary going to a new place... You might be pleasantly surprised and really enjoy your time there. Jamestown really looks pretty. Check out Fargo and Bismarck for more quilty-longarmy stuff. Neher-in-law5
Cheryl, If the info about Fargo being only 1 1/2 hour drive is right for you, then remember that Fargo is just across the river from Moorhead, MN. So you may also want to check what is available there too.
JLM
Shana, it was very sweet of you to look up this info. Valley City is the nearest town, it\'s about 30 miles east of Jamestown on the freeway. Good Luck. Janet Mohler Colorado Springs
Slodge
Do contact Darcie - she is a real sweetheart and her sister has the quilt shop in Jamestown. We lived in ND for almost six years (60 miles north of Jamestown) - what a great bunch of quilters live there! Sue in Iowa
jajab
My DH aunt lives in Valley City and is big into Quilting. I will check with her tomorrow and get you some more info about the area. She will be home for Christmas here in MN. Fargo is about an hour from Valley City. Very pretty place. Will check on Fargo stuff too. Have aunt that lives there also. But it looks like Shana has given you some great places to start. Shana you big sweety.
