juliagraves
Hi - when my top thread breaks, I\'ve been cutting my bobbin thread and starting over. Do I need to cut my bobbin thread? Or could I just rethread my needle and begin stitching again? Thanks! Julia
Mary Beth
I always cut and start again so that I can secure the threads. That may not be correct, but seems righ. It will be nice to see what others do.
Katydids
I will cut the bobbin thread and then unstitch back to a point or a seam line. Then I knot and bury the thread. I will then restart stitching, yes, sometimes I have to unstitch several inches, but this gives me the best look possible. I really hate unsightly stops and starts. ramona-quilter
When the top thread breaks, the bobbin is still attached to the bottom of the quilt. After re-threading when you are ready to start stitching again, hit single-stitch and pull up your bobbin thread and you should notice that there are 2 bobbin threads (really a loop). Cut the bobbin thread and do the one-stitch again to pull up the bobbin thread again...this time only one will come up. I also back up to a less noticeable spot, like Patty, even if it means that I have to frog some quilting to get there.
