Just Sew Simple
Since batting is so expensive, can I get by with using flannel as batting for practicing? I need lots of practice but just wanted to still have money for groceries.
Boni
I've used flannel in garaments for batting and I did a tablecloth for a customer who didn't want batting. It works nicely. You'll have to make tension adjustments when switching to batting.
Katydids
You could use flannel as the batting, but you may have a hard time getting just the right tension as the layers wil be so thin. I would just put a fresh piece of muslin over what you have already quilted and practice some more.
mskazooli
Hey Pattie, what a great idea. . . duh, wish I'd thought of that. I have tons of used muslin practice pieces that were just sitting around! But my further practicing will have to wait a few months as we are headed to NC for a couple of months. See ya when we get back!
