Laura gave you good advice.
What kind of batting are you using? Some battings, including Warm & White and Warm & Natural, have a right side and a wrong side, and loading them the wrong way can result in pokies. When loading, "dimples up, pimples down." In other words, have the indentations going down, in the same direction as your needle moves. Also, has your backing fabric been washed? That can make a difference, too.

Deb, thanks for the update, and congratulations on your moving success!

I suggest posting pictures of your set-up to help the Ultimate 1 to experts give you good advice.

Has the fabric been washed? It may be a chemical used on the fabric that is causing your symptoms.

I think stash size varies greatly among all quilters, depending on budget, available space, and personal preference.

My Freedom (now called Freddie) only has a manual vertical lock. When I want a horizontal lock, I use a clamp on the rails. Easy peasy.
-
Do you have the option on your George to put the set screw in from the other side? I can do it on my Freedom, not sure if a George works the same way.
Also, are you on Facebook? The We Love APQS group has a lot of members, and one of them may be able to help you.

Betsy - have you ever oiled your thread? Someone else asked about this in another thread. I found some YouTube videos showing basically dipping the thread in mineral oil to condition it. It doesn't seem necessary on polyester threads but might be useful for cottons. They are adamant that it doesn't leave residue or stain the quilts.
Sue
Sue, I bought some silicone thread conditioner, but haven't used it much because I could never find out how long to dunk the spools. Just saw a You Tube video about using mineral oil, and based on that, I think I will go with 5-10 seconds, and then let it drip before setting it aside to soak in. Sewer's Aid has worked very well for me, but it can get expensive, even with 40% off coupons at JoAnn, as it only comes in little bottles. Thread can definitely dry out, so this is a good option to delay that process.

I have used it in the past. Worked pretty well, but it is definitely linty. Have you treated it with a thread conditioner? I put Sewer's Aid on it, enough lines of it up the spool to mostly cover all the thread.

Yes Betsy I could but I also wanted to use machine to quilt but not with the bobbin winder motor running continuously , thanks for your reply
Sorry, Queenie, I didn't realize that your bobbin winder was part of your machine. Glad you got it figured out!
-
Can you operate it by plugging it in to start winding a bobbin, and unplugging it when the bobbin is wound?

Hi Sharon. I’m Mara from Italy. Your quilt is very beautiful. I would like to make that blanket model too. Help me please. In which book i can try pattern and instructions to be able to make it happen? Thank you very much.
MaraHi Mara,
You should be able to Google the pattern name and find it. I found it here: Lightning Strikes - C Jean Horst (amishcountrylanes.com)
Good luck!

What machine, what kind of thread? Is this a new spool of thread? Have you tried thread conditioner on it? How does your tension look?
-
Jen, have you considered using another fabric to "enlarge the shirt to get it to the width you need? You could use the sleeve design in this same block, or elsewhere in the quilt.
I made this T-shirt quilt for my niece, and used a collar shirt in the lower corner. I used another part of the shirt to fill in the neck opening, and had to trim and restitch the collar at the top to make it lie properly. This slippery material did not lend itself to being fused any other way.

With Bliss, you should not be having any problem moving your machine. Is it possible that your channel locks are engaged, or that there is some obstruction in your wheels?

Phyllis, I am very glad this is not a US flag! Whether or not it can be done, and your needle and thread choices, will be dictated, at least in part, by the construction of the flag. Are you planning to use batting or just the flannel backing? Even if the flag has extremely thick seams, or heavy embroidery/embellishment, I would think you could quilt around the tricky areas.
Do you have a picture of the flag you could share? That might help to generate some ideas for you.
-
Setting aside personal opinions of treating a flag this way, I think a lot would depend on how the flag is constructed. Some are just printed on the fabric, others are sewn of individual fabrics, with very thick seams.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were looking for a replacement cable. Ooops.
Lora, your information is great for someone else, though!

Hi Tonilynn,
You certainly have an extensive collection! I am interested in 5 items, if they are still available:
15" Featherz Border
7 Treasures of Buddha 12, Queen, 2+1/2 sections 103"
Cable 6, King, 3 Sections 115"
Honeycomb 15, Queen, 2+1/2 sections 115"
Pebbles 12, Queen, 2+1/2 sections 110"
If I did the math correctly, that comes to $1,016, plus shipping. Where are you located?
Thanks!
Betsy
