Churn Dash
I am having trouble with the needle dragging on the quilt surface a little. I have tried changing the needle but I still can't get it to lift away from the surface. Thanks for any help! Helen
Mary Beth
I know this sounds dumb...but when you changed the needle did you make sure it was pushed up into the needle bar as far as it would go? Have you hit anything?
Churn Dash
Nope, not hit anything and I have tried to push the needle as far in as I can. Helen
Quilting Heidi
Helen have you tried to see if you can manually turn it up higher using the fly wheel? My only other guess would be like Mary Beth that the needle isn't in all the way. Sure hope you get it fixed.
Churn Dash
Sweet, thanks so much! I never thought of the flywheel, I have had electronic dsms for so long I forgot it was there! It looks like the needle will be far easier to thread, lol Helen
Just Sew Simple
Mine came from the factory dragging. I have just gotten in the habit of using the fly wheel! A bit aggrivating! My batting is not thick - Warm and natural. I have re-adjusted my needle but it is all the way in. Sigh.....
Quilting Heidi
Must be something that can be adjusted. I'd give Amy a call and see if she can tell you how you can permanently fix it. I'm glad it helped for the time being.
RitaR
It sounds like the needle bar, the part that holds the needle, needs to be further up in the machine. Unless you are consistantly using thick batting.. RitaR
smorris
Hi Helen To help, we need to know, which machine you have, how long you've had it and if you've got thread caught in the thumbwheel at any stage. Does it feel really hard to rotate the thumbwheel by hand? My first guess would be that thread has got sucked into the machine through the thumbwheel area so take off the sideplate on the opposite side to the tensioner and have a look on the right hand side of the thumbwheel for thread caught up in there. Good luck sue in Australia
