RitaR
As you can tell from the picture.. I'm pretty shaky right now.. I usually at my worst can follow a line better than I did when I started.. I did rows 1,2 , 4 and 3 in that order.. It can be done, it wouldn't for me take a lot of practice to be better, but the lines to follow really would be a help for me. I mean the outside lines.. top and bottom and then the lines depicting the top of one coil and the bottom of the other.. to get the angle correct. There is something, I think the angle of the one coil going behind the next, that isn't quite right. Maybe it should be more pointy against the next one,? n Yeah.. thats it. I think I will be buying a board. LOL, cluck, cluck. RitaR
ramona-quilter
Rita, I don't see any chalk guide marks on your practice piece. I know that I would need something to keep me going straight. And I bet that you would do better without the distraction of that fabric, maybe muslin or a "reads solid" print. I think you've got the rhythm, just need the consistency. I have the CL rope template and the rope rulers and yet I still want to learn to do it freehand. Glutton for punishment, maybe.
RitaR
Hi Linda, I ddin't use any chalk marks, etc.. winging it all the way.. I do think if I were to actually use this I would mark the outer width of the rope, then the angle rough in to keep it going the right direction. hollyc
Try doing a rope like you do feathers, you would need to backtrack every other cable.
Boni
I want to thank you Rita for posting your practice. I think you will inspire many of us to PPP and do wonderful things.
IBQLTN2
Rita those look like actual yo yo's did you have to quilt over them. It would be really hard to do that and keep to a line anyway so free hand woud probably be how I would do it too. Great work. Jeanne
