Needle punch side down, fluffy side up? Or is there a right and wrong? And on some batting, how do you tell the difference? Quilting Heidi Posted February 21, 2009 Report Share Posted February 21, 2009 Angela, If it is needle punched you can see little dimples. You would have that facing up. Quilters dream doesn't have a right or wrong side to it so you don't have to worry about it. Some battings have a scrim which is stiff feeling to it and if you have a batting like that then the scrim should be toward the backing. Hope that helps a little. quiltmonkey Posted February 21, 2009 Report Share Posted February 21, 2009 Lisa, when in doubt, use a straight pin and gently poke the batt on both sides to test.
