Grammie
Which Variated threads would have a long color change? This is probly a good question for Sue Patten. I ready to try some other threads. I love what I use from Superior but I've seen some of the Sulky and I love the colors but I know I get lint. Who cares that is what my compressor is for. lolol Thanks Grammie Tammie
witha'K'quilting
Maxi Lock Swirls have a fairly long color change, about every 4 inches or so. It is linty however. I have to clean my machine more often when I use it.

JustSewSimple
I also like to use Maxi Lock threads with sew fine on the bottom.
quiltingtina
I took the thread painting class from Sue Patton a couple weeks ago (great class!!). She used a lot of threads, but the ones that wowed me were the Valdani threads. I am working on where to buy them wholesale...let me know if you find a good source. You can check them out at valdani.com . Good luck in your search, and let us know what you find!
quiltmonkey
I agree with Tina! I love the Valdani threads, too. They are all cotton and linty, but so pretty! Sue uses them in her quilts. I just blow out the fuzz with the compressor!

quiltmonkey
Tammie, if you use the Valdani, you probably should use a 4.5 needle cuz that thread is FAT!

LauraJ
Where oh where to buy the variegated Valdani? Any recommendations? I just used a Sulky variegated and it turned out ok but I'd like to try Valdani - it looks wonderful!
quiltmonkey
When I first started collecting I got some off ebay. It was a sampler pack of like 8 or 10 spools. http://cgi.ebay.com/12-large-Valdani-3-strand-floss-spools_W0QQitemZ310131895920QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item310131895920&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A15%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/1-spool-Valdani-Variegated-35wt-Cotton-Thread_W0QQitemZ310015201819QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item310015201819&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116#ebayphotohosting http://cgi.ebay.com/100-Cotton-Valdani-Thread-35-Weight-M10-Holiday_W0QQitemZ280313162381QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item280313162381&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
Ferret
Poop, I've never managed to get Valdani to run on any of my machines. It is pretty but short of bobbin work or couching I can't use it Ferret
yogiquilter
Supposedly that new thread that Linda Taylor helped design has a long color change. There is a video on You Tube about it, and it talks about the color change:)
