sammi357
One of my gf's is looking for instructions on how to fold the fat quarter bundles into stars for sale in a retail shop. Any input? thanks, sammi
Boni
Isn't it just triangles layered to look like a star? Fold a strip and begin a corner fold at one end, then continue much like folding a flag. Then stack them alternately to make the star. On the last fold, tuck the flap inside. This may not be the star you're looking for, but it's the one I'm thinking of. Boni
I don't know how to tie them together. Maybe someone else could tell how to do that.
Bonnie
For the tying part, we use to use a thin or tiny ribbon and wraped it around the "V" areas of the star and finished with a bow in the back that had a tag hanging off it that had the price how many fat quarters were in there. CWBowser
When I worked at a quilt shop that is how the fat quarters were folded. The pictures are excellent. Sometimes we used jute to tie up the bundle. Charlotte
dnice
I love the technique. What a neat way to give a quilting friend a gift of material. I also love the fabric in the photos. Boni, Who is the fabric manufacturer?
sammi357
Those ARE cool fabrics... thanks for the pics. I'm sorry, I know I didn't specify, but the one they saw was shaped more like the Ohio Square block, rather than the Star of David shape? this should be a book.... like napkin folding! thanks! Boni
Those fabrics are Pizzazz by General Fabrics Sammi, I can't help you there. I'll look around and check with my LQS friends.
Bonnie
Sammi neither can I...these are the only way I've seen them put together as star... These fabrics can be gotten at WalMart...and I've seen them at Hobby Lobby as well.
Hollyrw
I had some folded like an Ohio Star. They seemed to fit inside one another so there was no ribbon holding it together. I may have taken them apart though , I don't remember. I'll look when I get home tonight.
Bekah
Holly I had some too that my DIL got me and I did take them apart so I am of no help. I like learning how to make the star shown here so I can put together a nicer looking present than just plain fat quarters in a box
dnice
Thanks for the name and manufacturer of the fabric. The Walmart here does not have fabric:( just Crafts. I will have to check on line.
CWBowser
Bonnie, What is Hobby Lobby and do we have one nearby? Thanks. Charlotte
Bonnie
Charlotte....its a huge craft store chain that has a few stores in NY, but they are way further south of us...I think mostly down around Long Island area. I have been in them in Montana, Wyoming and Utah...and there was one when I first got here in Milford area of CT, but its not here now. They are a cross between Michaels, The old Ben Franklins, and the craft area of JoAnns. www.hobbylobby.com
CWBowser
Thanks Bonnie, I miss the old Ben Franklins. They had some neat fabric and the prices were very reasonable. Charlotte
