Liam
Barbara, What part of Vermont are you going to? Vermont is such a beautiful state. I loved all the beautiful old churches, the old covered wooden bridges and the beautiful landscape. I lived in Burlington, VT as a kid; I hope to one day return for vacation. Ursapoo
Hi Liam, We are going to Waterbury. Our son is a minister there. It is a beautiful part of the country. Just too bad it is not closer to us.
Brenni
If you are traveling Sept 17-20, there is the quilt show in Oaks PA about an hour away from Intercourse. www.quiltfest.com Mary
ffq-lar
Amish country (Lancaster, PA area) is fabric heaven. Go online to find choice spots in areas you will be near. You will find great prices on fabric and loads of Amish-style work--that is, hand-quilted or machine stitched in Amish designs. There are quilt museums to visit as well. Have a great trip! Primitive1
Barbara, My guild rents a bus and we go up to Intercourse every fall...there is a great little quilt museum there along with several great stores...Zooks, lots of places to eat and amish shops, etc. The quilt museum website is: www.ppquiltmuseum.com/ and it is a must see, another great place to shop is a place called Burkholders's Fabrics - www.burkfabrics.com it is about 20 mins away from intercourse out in a barn in the country but they have soooo much and are very helpful and friendly and the clencher, they also give a 12% discount if you show them a guild member card or name tag....well worth the visit. Ohhh, have a great time! Vicki

sueky1
Here are a few of my favorite shops. They are owned by Amish and also sell finished quilts to help get your creative juices flowing. Prices and fabric selections are great. Betsy
The Quilt and Fabric Shack in Bird-in-Hand is one of my favorites from my PA days. They have some unique fabrics. ditto on Burkholders. Endless Mountains Quilt Shop in Tunkhannock is great too but I don't know how far out of the way that will be for you. Hershey has a nice little quilt shop called "Quilters Cottage" that is charming.
oireachtas
http://www.quiltart.com/lancaster.html There are so many great shops in this area. Many of them have already been mentioned. The Hayloft, Martin's in Morganton has a large selection of fabric and at less than quilt shop prices. When I lived in Reading, Pa this was my favorite place to go. The fabrics are upstairs in a loft above a Mennonite grocery store. A true experience is Obie's in Goodville! You cannot believe the amount of fabric crammed into that place. It is overwhelming, but remarkabley the person who was working there seemed to know where things were. That whole Lancaster/Amish area is quilter's heaven. I hope you are timing your trip to Vermont to coincide with the fall foliage. New England in the fall is spectacular. Intercourse is a charming little town with lots of quilt and non quilt shops that are fun to browse through.
