witha'K'quilting
Any suggestions for using Rainbows on top and Monolon in bobbin? I have a quilt to do using this combination. Stitch length? Threading? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to start playing with this combination this afternoon.
quiltmonkey
Kristina, I've not used this combination together but I have used monofilament in both top and bobbin at the same time without any problems. Just make sure you tie and bury so the starts/stops dont come loose.
witha'K'quilting
I am going to loosely wind some bobbins half full with monolon and then experiment. I hope it works like I am hoping. If not, I may try monolon both top and bottom. I am going to quilt a king size with muslin backer and the lady doesn't want contrasting thread to show. Ugh! Would I have troubles running monolon as both threads? Or would I better to run so fine or bottomline beige top/bottom?
quiltmonkey
We'll you are asking someone who likes to play with all types of thread and does not believe there is a rule on what you use. So with that said, I say "Go Forth and Conquer!"

Quilting Heidi
I've never used monolon in the bobbin either. I have used BL & SoFine in the bobbin with monolon and had no problems except thay you really need to loosen your tension.

JustSewSimple
I did an entire quilt with tons of quilting (quilted it to death) with monofilament on top and so fine in bobbin. Turned out great! Narry a tension issue.
NollR
I just finished a T-shirt quilt with the Rainbow thread on top and Bottom Line in white to go with the white muslin back. You couldn't even tell the Bottom Line thread through the quilt top. But I have also used Superior Monopoly thread in both the top and bobbin for another T-shirt quilt and it turned out gorgeous! I didn't have any problems, I just loosened both tensions alot and went slow. Don't know if I helped. Good luck on your quilt!
