CJQ
I am absolutely loving my swirls and baptist fan boards!!! My customers love them too. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share what they charge for these patterns. I have been right at 2 cents a square inch. No complaints yet but the more I do, the easier it gets and I almost feel quilty. There is a lot of quilting with either design.
Sandra Darlington
I have a friend who charges .0175 (1 3/4 cents) per square inch for the Baptist Fan; .02 for the Swirls, Square Dance and Clam Shells and .0275 (or maybe it was .025) for the Sakura. I hope this helps. My thoughts are.... you are better and faster at these designs because you practiced (PPP) and you deserve to be paid for your skill level. And, if your customers are not complaining about the price, and they love the designs (who wouldn't?), don't lower your price. A special discount, for a time limited period, would be OK - like a Christmas special, or Happy New Year to them if they bring a top to you in January, etc would be a way to thank them for their business, but I would not think dropping your prices would be a good thing to do to your self. 2 cents a SI does not seem out of line to me. JMHO I wonder what other responses you will get. Now I'm curious, too.
dancing bear
never drop your price except for a time-limited offer. If you drop your price, someone may question your other prices. You are skilled - and you're being paid for that skill - not for how much you enjoy it or whatever. Be competitive but don't give your skills away. Just twirl, smile, and bow! Bonnie
2 cents a SI for any of the boards would be a good fair price, so why would you cheat yourself. NEVER go backwards...you are getting faster which means more quilts done in a day and an increase in pay. If you want to give a discount during a slow month great, but don't lower your prices ever. JMHO.
donnavans
What boards are you using to make the swirls and Baptist fans? I am still very new and learning.
Bonnie
Circle Lord and R&S both have baptist fans and swirls....both are great products to have in you arsenal... here are the links to each http://rns-design.com/ http://www.loriclesquilting.com/
Mary Beth
Just because it is easy to do, is no reason to charge less. The density of the quilting is what I base my pricing on. If you get the quilt done quick, don't call them for a few days that way it will look like it took longer to do
Georgene
Yes, the Circle Lord templates are easy and fast and get you paid more per hour. However, I think that you should NOT lower your price. You had to buy those templates and you have other expenses as well. Use the extra money to buy more templates. Corey
I agree, you earned it and so deserve it. I only give specials during the slow month. Corey
CJQ
Thanks for all of the replies. I didn't think it was necessary to lower prices either, it just helps to know that I am not way off. I will post some pictures of the swirls quilts soon. I love these forums! Gator
I agree, don't lower your price. The more you quilt the faster you'll get. You have earned your higher profit margin though sweat and practice.
