mrsbishwit
Can King Tut Thread be used in the bobbin? and if so has anyone ever done it, what thread would you use on top and what about tension? really loose?
susanramey
I've used KT in the bobbin many times with KT as the top thread. Yes, loosen the tension. The only negatives are that the bobbin won't hold as much thread as So Fine and the thread is really linty so you'll have to blow out the bobbin area more often while quilting. quiltingjoyful51
I have used it in the bobbin when ever the customer has requested matching thread on the top and bottom. I agree it is dustier than others and it fills the bobbin too quickly. I have to bobbin cases, one marked and set for heavy thread and one for reg. thread. I still need to fine tune for each quilt. mrsbishwit
Thanks for the info. I have one of my own quilts that has a busy front but a solid light colored back and thought that this would be a good way to bring some life to the back of the quilt. I think I will try it even with all of the lint and many bobbin fills.

LindaFritchen
This quilt has King Tut variegated on the back and so fine on top. The backing was Moda 'snow' and owner wanted the design to show on the back. Using the CL feather wreath, it did turn out pretty. She plans to put the back up sometimes for a change! I tightened the top thread just a little, but the two worked well together. Good luck.

Sparkle
Hi JoAnn, I've used King Tut in the bobbin and on the top. You need to wind a lot more bobbins, and play with your bobbin tension setting a bit as compared to using So-Fine or Bottom Line in the bobbin---I also use a larger needle. (4.5) Yes, it makes more lint, but I just clean, and oil the bobbin race as usual---
Quilting Heidi
I've used it top and bobbin without any problems except that your bobbin runs out a whole lot faster than when you use bottom line!
Quilting Heidi
Oh and blow out your bobbin area with each bobbin change because it is really linty!
