SKQuilts
Hi everyone, I am working on a clients quilt and the SID to stabilize each block is not flattering the quilt at all. She pieced basket blocks and set them on point. Some of the sashings are done with friendship stars, some not. It is quite beautiful but SID shows imperfect blocks etc. If I quilt the interior of the blocks and do not SID, will I regret it? What would you do???? Your help is appreciated! Primitive1
Can you do continuous curves inside the blocks?
ffq-lar
Perhaps stabilize just the outside seam of each large block with SID. Then use CCs or full- block designs to quilt inside the large blocks. That will help hide imperfect piecing--especially a block design that hits each corner and is not specific to the piecing. As for the sashings, stitching a quarter inch away from the long seam lines will unify the design and not detract from any pieced cornerstones. Treat the sashing as if the pieced areas aren't there. LadyLake
Perhaps do a dense meander next to the outer edge of each basket, instead of SID, would enable you to downplay piecing imperfections.
Quilting Heidi
I always SID the outside of the block and then if it is not perfect piecing you can't go wrong with CC's.
