Housewren
Good morning.... I'm trying to mark a 16in wide pattern, and have tried puncing, but as I sew, the marks bounce right off. My pattern is on perforated paper... I'd love, love, love some suggestions to get my marks to stay. Thanks. Ann
Quilting Heidi
Ann, Take a damp sponge over the fabric and then try pouncing. This usually give the chalk something to hold onto. If htat doesn't work with chalk try cornstarch.
sewlinzi
Have you tried miracle chalk?
Housewren
Thanks for the help... since the border is white, I'm using the glow in the dark powder. I was hesitant to dampen the fabric just because my pattern is on golden thread paper.. so delicate. But I'm at my wits end, so will try again this afternoon. thanks. Quilting Heidi
That black light powder is pretty bouncy. I think the damp sponge will help. It should affect the golden threads paper since you won't be making it wet. Just enough to make the fibers grab the powder. Did you use a large needle in when you stitched the paper? o2b Quilting
I have even used a light aerosol hair spray after pouncing to hold the chalk on.
Georgene
I use a fine mist spray of water after applying the chalk. And I use a sponge (paint) brush to apply the powder. It gives a better application, I think. But I've never used it with the Golden Threads paper.
