cblevins
We have a top that has hand embroidered blocks. The flowers that are in the blocks are all different sizes. It is set together with strips. The lady asked if we could do an all over design. I know you would not normally quilt over the embroidery. Has anyone done that and how did it look? Littleshoes
I have quilted over it. I usually pick a thread that sort of blends with the embroidery, that way the texture shows but it's not in your face quilting over it.
lakequilter
Cheryl, I recently did an allover design on an embroidered quilt and had no problems with it at all. I was pretty anxious about it too, but it went very smoothly. I just tried to keep at an even speed, a little slower than I would normally go with all-over design. SYork
I have done several for family members and it works fine. The blocks had a white background fabric and I used white thread. It doesn't take away from the embroidery. Go for it.
Sheri Butler
Just make sure you use "matching thread to the background color of the quilt" and it will melt inside the embroidery work and you won't notice it!!
