iedquilts
This customer saw a quilt at a show that had gingko leaves quilted on it- and wants me to quilt that on this one. I don't see it. Am I wrong? Please give me your suggestions so i can give her other options. thanks Irene

Quilting Heidi
Ginko leaves are not the first thing that would pop in my head. There are so many other things that would look good on that quilt. Are you doing an e2e or custom?

Quilting Heidi
Irene can you get a picture of the whole quilt? It looks a little disjointed to me with just the section. I'm sure there is some kind of pattern to the background.
Quilting Heidi
Here is a panto with an all-over that you could adapt and use just as a background fill and then SID the blocks. http://www.quiltypleasuresnw.com/catalog2.html
iedquilts
thanks Heidi- here is the full view. would you use black thread?. Irene
Quilting Heidi
Yes I would definitely use black thread. I would probably change thread for the outside border though from just looking at the picture. I still say do something to fill in the background like the all-over above but really you could put some really pretty motifs in there and then fill it in. Feathers would look awesome on this quilt too. Sometimes with spaces that big is good to break them up into different areas with straight lines and then fill in. Really lots of options. Neher-in-law5
Sorry, great looking quilt but it doesn't look enough Asian to me for ginko leaves. Hope you can find some thing that just blows her away that is the perfect fit for this one.
Primitive1
Maybe you could use gingko leaves as a background filler in the black area?
quiltmonkey
OK (IMHO) Here is a design idea. I think a thread color like dark orange/rust, or even golden brown thread would look pretty for the quilting. To me, the quilting needs to stand out just a little bit... not too much... (subtle but that you notice it's there--- nothing too bright... maybe a dark orange/rust, or even dark golden brown thread) to accentuate the star piecing. If she wants ginko leaves, you could have a spine but make them ginko leaves alternating on each side of the spine, instead of feathers! Or, just meandering ginko leaves in the black area? Whatever you choose, I would pick a thread color that pulls from the colors in the star blocks. Molar feathers or hook feathers might look really pretty too. Quilting Heidi
Shana love your ideas for this and it fits the quilt so much better than ginko leaves.
iedquilts
Thanks Shana. I like that. I will email customer ... hopefully she agrees. Irene
