MarieBrewer
I have been using the Singer 4.0 needle for about everything. Has anyone used the needles from Superior? Just wondering if I will have any timing issues or anything else. Thanks
JustSewSimple
I only use a Singer 3.5 and I buy from APQS. I would be afraid to use a different needle. That's just me now, and I'm no expert.
o2b Quilting
Superior does carry the same needles as we can get from APQS. I know they also carry the Titanium needles which APQS does not recommend so be careful when ordering. I know some people use the titanium with good results but they are not what is recommended. jimerickson
I'm only aware of 2 needle manufacturers that make the needles we use. Singer and Gros Beckert. There may be others but I'm not aware of them. Now that Gros Beckert owns the Singer needle brand I guess there's only one. I've used both the Singer packs (the chrome ones) and the Gros Beckert titaniums. Both work just fine. The chrome ones are a bit more flexible, the titaniums a bit stiffer. The chrome ones are more prone to bend when over stressed, and the titaniums more likely to break. But both do break! I personally prefer the titanium. Really long life, and stiff. I don't know what needles Superior sells. I buy mine from Quilt Tech. Just my thoughts. Jim
alnaquilts
I remember hearing at the APQS Road Show that the Singer needles were recommended. However, when I bought my new machine from APQS, I received Gros Beckert needles with it, so that is what I've been using and I haven't had any problems with them.
