bonbon
What type of batting is used for large wallhangings that will not stretch out of shape while hanging? My guess is polyester. What do you recommend? Thanks!
PattyJo
Hi Bonnie - I have one customer who does a lot of wall hangings and always uses cotton batt - usually warm and natural or warm and white.
newellyn
Hi Bonnie, I prefer to use Warm and White for wall hangings. It just gives a much nicer crispness for hanging.
LadyLake
I would recommend Quilters Dream Cotton Select Loft. I think poly would be too flimsy and not hang straight.
Quilting Heidi
I use a combinations. Usually an 80/20 on the bottom and a thin layer of wool on top for definition. I tease the wool into two layers.
JoAnnHoffman
I use two layers of quilters dream green.
Guest Linda S
No matter what your preference, just make sure it's a very sturdy batt - not much stretch to no stretch at all. Lots of the ones listed above are great.
Merryjo2003
Most of my art quilt makers prefer wool batt. They say it doesn't have memory and when they ship to shows, the quilts hang nicely right out of the box. I always thought the flat batts like the ones listed above worked well. Which brand of wool are you referring to (QD?) Does that mean you split it, and then use just half on the top, and save the other split half for another project?
