dmcram
does the thread and bobbin type have to match such as a polyester thread and a cotton bobbin is this ok?
newmillie2010
i have successfully used poly on top and cotton in the bobbin. the cotton in the bobbin was a fil-tec prewound cotton and it worked fine. I just really made sure that my tension was perfect before starting, 1/2 way thru checked again, and towards the end checked. all was fine. never thought to ask if it would/wouldn't work. just went for it. angels watch over fools and drunks .... and i wasn't drinking! LadyLake
The top and bobbin thread don't have to match, but some work better together than others. Thinner threads in the bobbin tend to work better. What threads were you wanting to put together?
Quilting Heidi
I've used a combination without a problem. Normally I use a thin thread and poly in the bobbin.
kerileann
does anyone know how the long term wear of a cotton on one side and a poly on the other would be? I would be concerned that the poly would wear through the cotton over time.
