peaches
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have a quilt that I would like quilting suggestions for. this is a king size quilt. Have had my Millie since this summer so am still in the midst of the learning process. Appreciate any suggestions that you have. Thank you in advance. Alyn
busybee
H Alyn What color is the back. If it is simular in colors then do a varigated thread to blend. Maybe leaves and loops in dark solid blue the rest panto maybe something with leave or flowers. Depends on how good you are with pantos. Is this yours or customers? peaches
Hi busybee, The back is a tan/off white floral. It is a gift for my DIL for Christmas. I have only done a little panto work and they have turned out OK so am not opposed to trying something like that on this. thanks, Alyn
busybee
Alyn Then the cream color thread would be good, for both sides.
jeanros
Yes I agree, a cream color thread would go good for both sides, and loops and leaves would go great too. Pretty quilt, I love the colors, have fun. Jean Millenium
countrystitcher
A leaf panto would be beautiful on this. I have one called "Dancing with the Wind" and it is beautiful. I think it is a Jodi Bemish panto. If you order from King Men's they will get it to you in a couple of days -- they are fast! I love their service. Quilt is very pretty - have fun! TishMarshall
I love the colors you chose. Seperate the borders, SID around the outter one and do a seperate leave and loops or swirls on the outside. Remember to have fun and relax. She will love it! kathymartinez
How do you separate borders and a panto? I don't know how to make the bottom come out right if it has to stop precicely on the line of the bottom border.
chickenscratch
I would do a diagonal line running through all the dark blue squares, then a large motif in the diamond created by that. It wouldn't take a lot of time and it would show off the pattern. I'd use cream thread top and bottom.
ramona-quilter
Alyn, A friend just used a new panto from Dave Hudson. I think the designer is Vicki Lawrence (???) Anyway, it had BIG leaves and ferns and was quite nice. It had hibiscus in it , too but you hardly noticed them...looked like another leaf. You can see it below (hopefully it came thru) or go to the Pattern Station website: http://www.quiltscomplete.com/SearchResult.aspx?vendor=15 and enter "hibiscus" (w/o the quotes) into their search engine She used a variegated thread and it was very pretty. Maybe something like King Tut 904 Mirage which is tone-on- tone light blues. Or King Tut Alexandria 986 which is blues and yellows. Please post a picture when you finish.
