Diane2quilt
Is there any tricks for longarming on fleece? Just two layers of fleece? Batting? Thread? Needle size? Tension? I am getting skipped stitches. I am having trouble getting my tension correct on my machine in general (on muslin). I have a 1996 Gammill Classic with no bells and whistles. Quilting Heidi
Diane, I love to quilt on fleece. I just use two layers of fleece, a 4.0 needle and whatever thread that I want because it will sink in and you won't see it anyway . No idea why you'd have skipped stitches other than a timing issue. I don't have a Gammill so I can't really tell you what to look for. Good luck.
Gator
I love using fleece. I usually add a thin layer of batting to stabilize the fleece but that's just my preference.

quiltmonkey
I think it will quilt lovely, with or without batting, and no matter what brand longarm machine you have.
Littleshoes
Just finished one. This one had batting. My thread was breaking at first, I just loosened up that tension just a bit and then it just hummed along. I used a 4 needle. Carol
Diane2quilt
I called the factory - they gave me some pointers - the Gammill group said to re-thread - didnt work. So I am taking it off the machine - try something else - then go back to it later. Thank you for all your replys - this group has so much more information then other groups and the format is user friendly. thanks again
Sandra Darlington
I've done it both ways - with a thin batt and without any batting. The ones with batting were bound. The ones without batting were fringed. I used SoFine - top & bobbin in some and also Glide in top and Magna Glide bobbins in others. Both ran just fine.
