I love cherry wood, so the first one is my pick. I don't like footboards, but I did notice there's more drawer space in the second set. I'd look for a cherry set with more drawer space. If you have nice high ceilings then the second one would look nice..if not, then it will overpower your room. This is a hard choice as both have pro's/con's. I have a foot board on my bed and always said I would not have another one as it does make it hard to see the quilts since you have to tuck them in behind the foot board. I wonder if you could purchase the second set without the foot board? I seem to like it better because it has more eye appeal for my taste.
