ramona-quilter
This is my last customer quilt before Christmas. My customer is an excellent piecer and presser so it was a dream to quilt. She is giving this quilt to her 90-yr old father to honor his 30+ years of Naval service. She saw the Circle Lord circles that I did on the quilt shop owners quilt and requested them for her fathers quilt. Being a Navy retiree myself, I could not say "No". So I put the stars in the patriotic fabric blocks, circles in the 4-patch combo block and stars, waves and stripes in the border. There are more pics on my blog. <img src="http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n93/legcard/CustomerQuilts2006/corner2-1.jpg" border="0"> She was uncertain about the thread. The back is navy blue with beige stars. She wanted Warm and Natural cotton so she figured that she was stuck with the same color thread top and bottom. But I saw a cream color thread Signature Parchment) on the front and Superior Bottom Line dark blue on the back. So I used Quilter's Dream Cotton Deluxe which is a bit loftier than W & N. I had to play with the tension and check it with each bobbin change but I am happy with the way it turned out. No pokies. This is my first time with that lined border. I have seen it used here as a solution for 'wavy border' quilts. This quilt did not have any border problems. But I thought that the stripes look good with the stars and the fabric. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas.
