Thread cutter

Recommended Posts

I have been pulling up the bobbin thread and cutting my threads. I have not used the cutter on my Millie for months, maybe a year or so. I tried to use it the other day and it does not cut the thread. I took it apart and cleaned the debri, but it still does not cut the bobbin thread. Any suggestions to get it to cut? Do I need to change the blade or something?

I never use the thread cutter on my machine. It doesn't work reliably. Also, even if it works, it leaves a short thread tail that needs to be trimmed after the quilt is removed from the machine.

My solution to quickly and easily cutting threads was to buy an extensible lanyard and a pair of Superior Threads excellent snips. I keep my snips around my neck at all times when quilting, and even when sewing on my DSM. I never have to fumble for scissors, never roll my scissors up in the quilt top, and I always know that my threads are neatly cut.
