chickenscratch
Is there anybody I can email or text message a couple pictures of this bobbin assembly to? My husband and I have both checked for burrs and scratches (wearing our super strong old person reading glasses) and we don't see anything. I ran a cotton ball all around it and nothing catches on the cotton. I am still having major thread breakage issues since retiming the machine. The thread is breaking under the needle plate somewhere. Yes, we've checked and smoothed that with emory cloth. Thanks,Teresa
meg
Try calling Amy, Mark or Dawn at APQS. I find that sending them things works best if they know its coming.
Gretchen
Have you also checked the finger for burrs?
chickenscratch
Here are some pictures. you can see where we used the emery cloth to smooth a few places that looked scratched, but we can't find any rough spots or burrs.
shirleyl
Is your finger in too far? You can also use pantyhose to double check for burrs. I find them the best to find one. Shirley
chickenscratch
No burrs found. finger was just barely in the slot, maybe 1/3 of the way in. I just drenched the entire thing in WD 40 and used a new, soft toothbrush to make sure there is no grime or grease left. Now it is drenched in lubricant oil. Debating whether to put it back together or not.
chickenscratch
I've got it all back together and have tried two different threads and everything looks good. Wish me luck! Maybe it was a piece of fuzz or something in the hook assembly that we couldn't get with just compressed air.
DawnCavanaugh
Keep us posted, Teresa! It appears you got it figured out before I checked in to the Forum tonight!
RunningThreads
Dawn Teresa said she was having problems after re-timing. Do you think maybe the hook was not quite tight enough to the needle and the hook tip was shredding or breaking the thread? I hate problems that go away without knowing the reason.
