chickenscratch
This is huge and I have no idea what to do with it. It has to be an all over pattern of some kind- nothing custom UPDATE- FINISHED
chickenscratch
Found this one that is the same pattern, not sure how quick I could stitch it up though.https://www.google.com/search?q=gift+boxes+quilt&client=firefox-a&hs=Az9&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=uydAU8HdLI7fsASDsYH4Cg&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg&biw=1242&bih=575#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=SxfP6VEcDPLYEM%253A%3BuScq0WYFXXSphM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252F1.bp.blogspot.com%252F-8STu_a96AQ8%252FUfZiwX69ObI%252FAAAAAAAAEr0%252FViGuJqUzATo%252Fs1600%252F12.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Frubybluequilts.blogspot.com%252F2013%252F07%252Fguest-post-free-tutorial-gift-boxes.html%3B1600%3B1134
delld
I really like what you found! Looks fun to do too! If you want simple how about carbonated by Sue Heinz? It is a fill she does. Think loops going up and then outlined on one side coming down! Load the quilt with the darks lines going west and east and then you could do it across the quilt and be done when you hit the last row!. Not sure if it show here but is in this book! http://us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=A0LEV7yTNUBTEnUAhW8PxQt.;_ylc=X1MDMjExNDcwMDU1OQRfcgMyBGJjawMzMzZzN3ZkOWV2cXV1JTI2YiUzRDQlMjZkJTNEMUtZYzJ2UnBZRUxVU0lUaXlubFVkZFBvN294dFdPYVJIUWF3VFEtLSUyNnMlM0Q1cSUyNmklM0RqRVRYS0w1YkRlSjJYUUJvdnNNRwRmcgN5aHMtdzNpLXN5bmQxBGdwcmlkA1gwdjlCMmlZVEs2bTJ2NlFsdHJ1QkEEbXRlc3RpZANudWxsBG5fcnNsdAMxMARuX3N1Z2cDMARvcmlnaW4DdXMueWhzNC5zZWFyY2gueWFob28uY29tBHBvcwMwBHBxc3RyAwRwcXN0cmwDBHFzdHJsAzM2BHF1ZXJ5A2NhcmJvbmF0ZWQgZmlsbCBxdWlsdGVkIGJ5IHN1ZSBoZWluegR0X3N0bXADMTM5NjcxNjk3NTUzMAR2dGVzdGlkA251bGw-?gprid=X0v9B2iYTK6m2v6QltruBA&pvid=yq7KXzk4LjExm4f7Uu_r3gKbMTA4LlNANZP_sY_I&p=carbonated+fill+quilted+by+sue+heinz&fr2=sb-top&hspart=w3i&hsimp=yhs-synd1&type=W3i_DS%2C221%2C0_0%2CSearch%2C20140206%2C19669%2C0%2CGC32%2C7635
chickenscratch
Thanks Dell. I wish I could see it because I can't visualize it in my head. I tried drawing loops up and echoing, but it looks like waves BUT, I did order two of her books. They look like they have tons of good ideas in them. ffq-lar
That looks pretty "custom" to me, Teresa! When I read "overall" it's stitching that can compliment the piecing but which disregards the seams/blocks. You can stitch and charge whatever you want and what ever is standard for your area, but that straight-line quilting would be 3 cents an inch in my area. I know you're trying hard to build a customer base, but don't give it away or you'll be forever stuck doing custom for overall prices. I really like the quilting in the link you posted. Maybe you could figure a way to incorporate the back-and-forth stitching in the background and also the pieced areas. One set going horizontally and the opposite going vertically? Then your biggest issue would be deciding on thread color.
chickenscratch
Linda, that definitely looks custom, and time consuming. That's why I'm not crazy about doing it that way....not for 2 cents an inch. I am wondering how swirls would look on it.
ffq-lar
Swirls would be a great contrast to the geometric lines. I'll see if I can find a photo of an in-out spiral design I have used. I just sent you an email.
chickenscratch
This is what I came up with. It is still taking FOREVER to do.

Buttonflower
The link that Dell included in her post does include a video from youtube showing the 'rush hour' fill. I love her design. Now I'm off to check out her books & to see if she has anymore videos on youtube. Buttonflower
shirleyl
Maybe a square geometric panto. Straight lines and pebbles. Shirley
chickenscratch
Finished- picture in top post. Not sure I like how it turned out, but it is growing on me. I used khaki colored thread on top and white in the bobbin. High Loft polyester batting (because that is what she sent) Finished size 92 x

LibbyG
Looks great to me. Theresa, use the edit button, then hit full editor and change your title to include the word finished. Members might think they already saw this and not look. I only looked to hear what Linda said.
