Sheagatzi
Sorry for the questions. I'm not getting along with my machine today and these questions have surfaced. How accurate is your stitch regulator/stitch length supposed to be? If I have mine set at 12.5 - my stitches measure 10 per inch.
dlnewell
Call Amy at APQS and tell her your stitches aren't consistent. She can walk you through a test, fine tuning some adjustment screws on the circuit board in the back of the machine. You'll need a ruler and some fabric loaded and thread that you can easily see to count stitches in all directions. I had to do this with my Millie after I'd been quilting on it for a year or so. Also check to see that your encoder wheels aren't getting worn.
RunningThreads
I seem to recall Amy telling us not to worry about the accuracy of the gauge but be more concerned about the stitch length being the same left/right and up/down. I know our gauge has never been very accurate. Nigel
JenniferBernard
Stitch length also depends on how fast you are going. It can't keep up with really fast movement...like I do when I get into my free hand overalls. I have to keep telling myself to slow down!
Sheagatzi
Thanks Jennifer - I just discovered that this morning as I was playing around - but then I think - well, what is 'normal' speed then? It's been 2 years and I'm still trying to figure out Milie's nuances.
dlnewell
Yes to what Nigel said. Stitch out a square. If the stitches are different lengths in the different directions, then some adjustments can be made.
