BethDurand
My only experience with an underground railroad was to look at the book about this by Eleanor Burns. Maybe there are some ideas in there. Beth
ffq-lar
Being a sampler top and a vintage design, perhaps traditional designs that mimic hand quilting would be in order-- CC like the wine glass or pumpkin seed or a quarter inch in following the seams would work. Sounds tedious but it would remain true to the old-time ones. Or if you have a Circle lord do an overall Baptist Fan--that would be great. See what Eleanor says in her book. Good luck! lyonden
I also think the baptist fan would be a good design on a sampler. But, you might take a look at a sampler quilt I did a while back. You might get a few ideas. http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/261869508inpwjS

TerriVB
I love that Baptisit Fan--do you have the Circle Lord or the EZ? I think it gives it a nice traditional look without taking away from the quilt blocks.
Susanri
I used EZ it takes about 3 hours, I have seen the fans go both ways I like the fans the other way its easy peasy for sure!
