quiltingnanny
Help !! I\'m having trouble with the Lava thread shreading. I can only meander about 12 inches before it comes apart. I\'ve started with the suggested needle, [ 4.0 ] and have losened up my top tension, and the bobbin just drops. I do have an unwashed batik for the back. I\'m going real slow too. Any suggestions ? BethDurand
I\'ve never tried the Lava, so I\'m not going to be a lot of help, but here\'s my opinon. Change to a larger needle, or at the very least a different one. The current one may have a burr on it. Also, liberally dose the cone with sewers aide. Good luck to you. quiltingnanny
Put in another needle, larger hole. Still doing it. This is supposed to be a quick job. I think I\'m going to frog and change back to Signature thread. Don\'t like hassles ! Glenda
RitaR
I tried the lava and didn\'t like working with it at all.. I didn\'t like the results either.. but Know that\'s just my preference. Good luck. RitaR
Mary Beth
I ordered the trial size to see how would like it and I loved it. I didn\'t have one problem with it, however, I used it on muslin, not batik.
quiltingnanny
Mary Beth, want a good deal on the 3 cones I bought ? I\'ll bring them to MQS. I\'m pretty sure I\'ll be able to make it. My daughter is giving me some of her FF miles. Hopefully it will work out. Glenda
Mary Beth
Glenda, that is great news. Remeber we are planning a time to go out to eat and so some shop hopping while you all are here...if it doesn\'t get in the way of class time...I have to remind myself that is the reason you all are coming...not to hang out with me
barbm
Mary Beth, Speaking of MQS, were you going to try to put together a time when all of us could get together for dinner or a shop hop? Or am I thinking of someone else?.... Back to topic: I just quilted a lap size quilt with a sample cone of Lava, and it worked just fine. It was a pieced top, PolyDown batting and a flannel back. Used Bottom Line in the bobbin and a 4.0 needle. The only problem I really had was with the bobbin thread, and it turned out to be because my needle was loose, dropped out and bent (see thread from last week:o). The Lava worked just fine for me. Mary Beth
Yes, in answer to your question regarding MQS..I have a spread sheet going...color coded and everything. I want to include everyone in this escapade...but need to be sensitive to the reason we are all there in the first place. Let me take a look at it and I will post a message letting everyone know the most available times. That will be just after I cook dinner....DH has to come first. Sorry, I love ya guys....but I love him more
