dancingstitcher
Here's some close up shots of Linzi's feathers on her Lone Star/Log Cabin Pink quilt. I think she has painted the silver feather tips. Is that right Linzi? These are just gorgeous and show up from a distance too. Thank you for sending your quilt all the way to Road. sewlinzi
Ooh - they look quite presentable! It is 3 coats of Stewart Gill paint with a tiny brush. One of those "why did I think this was a good idea moments?!" Thanks so much for taking the pics!!
meg
hi linzi - dumb newbie question...i am wondering when you say 3 coats of paint - are the feathers quilted, painted or both? can you explain it a bit if you have time? thanks! meg
sewlinzi
Hi Meg! The feathers are just big and blowsy to start with then large echoes are microfilled with neon thread in scribble. Just the outer echo is painted - the shiny lilacy parts
Janette
Linzi Your freemotion quilting is great !! I would never have guessed that the lilac was paint - you must have a very steady hand !! Janette

lindasewsit
Linzi, Your quilt is GREAT! I have a question. I am doing a quilt that has ALLOT of Crosshatching.( Baltimore Album) I am starting and stopping, knotting and burying ALL the threads!! (This too is a "why did I do this?"moment) Ok... I see your CH goes right up to your feathers. What did you do? I will NEVER do a quilt this way again! I already have about 66 hours in it and another probably 15 yet to go! :o:o I would appreciate knowing how you did yours! thanks! linda
sewlinzi
It's freehand "wonky" crosshatch. I hate (too lazy) to use rulers or stop/start! You just wiggle a line right up to the motif, creep along its stitch line then back down about a 1/2" away (parallelish). After you can't go any further without advancing the quilt, you do the other diagonal. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to do You tube...
