MarieBrewer
My machine is frozen. I called APQS but must be out to lunch. Anyway, the flywheel won't move easily at all. No, it's not bound w/thread-have a cover for that problem. Took off the back cover and I hear a whiny, aching noise. Kinda like my bones. Anyway, does someone know if it is the motor or what? The belts are still in tact so I don't know but I don't think it's good. Help!!!
Matt Sparrow
Check your bobbin case for thread wrapped around it. Other than that I'd wait to hear from APQS before exploring any further.
Quilting Heidi
Motor bushing (right name for it I think) maybe?
francine
The brushes are easy to replace, and they are not to outrageously expensive.
Hollyrw
Like Matt says, check your bobbin case. It doesn't even have to be thread wrapped around the case. I've had a little piece of thread get jammed in there and lock the whole machine up like that. Sometimes it's hard to see.
Neher-in-law5
Marie, I'm sorry your machine isn't working, but you have to know that with your title and knowing that you live in SD, my humor response was: "Of course, it's frozen when you live here in the winter!" I hope you can find the thread that is blocking it soon, and that that is all it is.
MarieBrewer
Calledl Christy at APQS and she had me take the brushes out (they were fine), take off the belt and move the motor wheels (quite a process) and the motor was fine. The next conclusion was the bobbin area. She had me spray WD-40 in the area and run it for 30 minutes. All is well now. I have used WD-40 many times but I am wondering if the problem was all the Miracle Chalk I was using while doing border stencils. I always use an air compresser and lots of oil but it froze up anyway. And yes, Madelyn, it is VERY cold here in SD but still not as bad as MN. Used to live in Apple Valley. Talk about cold!!!
