seakitten
What's your favorite stabilizer?
Hollyrw
Excellent question Catherine. I'm getting ready to make my first T-shirt quilt so I look forward to the answers.
sspingler
I buy bolts of the cheapest Joann's has to offer when it's on sale. Just remember to have the "give" going in the opposite direction to the "give" on the tshirt.
LFQuilts
Pellon 906. Like Sharon above, I buy mine at JoAnns when it is on sale or when I have a 40% off coupon. Her advice on making sure that the stretch of the stabilizer is perpendicular to the stretch direction of the t-shirt fabric is critical. seakitten
Thank guys. I found a book that recommends Pellon ShirTailor, which I guess is made just for things like this, & as luck would have it JoAnn's online has a 40% off coupon this week. Holly, you might want to check it out.
Boni
Thanks for the help. I, too, am receiving a t-shirt quilt next month and have been searching for the best ideas and suggestions. I can always count on my friends at APQS.
Hollyrw
Thanks Catherine, I'm off to check out JoAnn's online.
Amy in Ames
I have made more t-shirt quilts than I can count. I use a woven fusible interfacing. It is called "Stacy" and normally $3.49/yd at JoAnn's. Four times a year they run a 50% off sale other wise use the 40% coupon. I buy several bolts during these sales as each quilt takes about 10yards. Have fun.
Hollyrw
Welcome Amy! And thanks for the tip.
kimmiequilts
I like Pellon's Stacey Shape Flex, it's woven so it gives a bit with the knits but bonds nicely. It doesn't make the t-shirts stiff.
Amy in Ames
I have lots of pictures but no clue on how to post them to here. I am still such a newbie as my name says.

Sandra Darlington
I have used Pellon SF 101 and was pleased with the results (but did not try any others). I bought it at JoAnn's with my coupons.
Merryjo2003
I don't know the #, but I prefer the woven iron-on stabilizer. I like the drape and find it easy to quilt. I've quilted t-shirt quilts with a variety of stabilizers and haven't had any problems with any of them. It's just my personal preference to use the woven. Hollyrw
We've gone through all the stabilizers, how about batting? I'm just about ready to start quilting mine. What batting would you use? Here's what I have: Warm & Natural, probably too heavy. Dream Puff Hobbs 80/20 Hobbs heirloom wool
Amy in Ames
I have used all types on these quilts. I finished one on Saturday that I used Polydown. That keeps it pretty light. I don't know if I would waste wool on these types of quilts since you don't need the warmth.
Sandra Darlington
I used the QD Delux...I think, or was it the Select? It is the poly that is not for hand quilting, but designed for machine quilting, and it is thinner than the Puff.
