PhyllisH
Can someone plz explain the difference/advantage of the HV verses vertical locks and advantages/disadvantages? (differences Freedom vs Millie)??? Usage etc???
Katydids
The Milli has electronic horizontal and vertical channel locks. At the touch of a button on the handles, ffront or back, you can lock in a straight line either vertically or horizontally. The Freedom, lenni and Lucey have a manual screw that you turn to lock the vertical only. It is manual and you have to reach under to lock it in. You don't have the option on horizontal. When they say "vertical" they are meaning it is locking out vertical movement, so the machine only rolls "side to side". The Milli again has both locks, and they are electronic. So you touch a button to lock, unlock, vs screwing down a manual lock. Hope this helps.
Katydids
forgot to mention usage. The locks are used anytime you want to sew a perfectly straight line. Piano key borders, sewing a straight line across your batting and backing to bring your quilt top to. There are other uses. Love my electronic channel locks on Millie. jeri
Love them for loading, checking the sides to see if they are straight, lining up a panto, checking to ee if blocks, sashings, or borders are lining up nice and straight, and of course piano keys
PhyllisH
Thanks, Ladies, for the info. What exactly is piano Keys?"
Stagecl
Piano keys are vertical stitching in the borders so it looks like piano keys, but without the black piano key. I have a Freedom and do not miss the channel locks (I previously owned a Millie).
