sharni
I would like to know from those of you that have used the battings. How do the 100% cotton Warm and Natural and the 100% Cotton QD compare. How do the Hobbs 80/20 and QD 80/20 compare? and finally how do the Hobbs Tuscan wool and the QD wool compare? ffq-lar
I prefer Tuscany wool to the QD wool--more consistent thickness and also seems to have better stitch definition. I prefer the QD 100% cotton to the Warm product. Hobbs 80/20 is the go-to batting for my customers and I love it, but haven't tried the QD. Sandra Darlington
I love QD wool, but have not tried Tuscany wool. I prefer QD cotton to W&N cotton. I use QD 70/30, however, the theme here is that I also have an account with QD, so I order their products. In all honesty, I really do love their batting, but there are other great ones out there as well.
LadyLake
Warm & Natural cotton seems to be thicker and fuzzier than Quilters Dream Select Loft cotton. I don't like having to clean lint from my bobbin area, so use QD. I used Hobbs 80/20 for years, and it is a good 'go to batt' as Linda said. I plan to try QD 70/30 with the next order. I wonder what the cost difference is between Tuscany wool and QD wool -- anybody know? I have QD wool and love it, but haven't tried the Tuscany. Quilting Heidi
I use mostly QD products. My most used is wool, 2nd to puff and dream poly. I've nevesr had any problems with QD at all. I have hobbs 80/20 and use it often but it is still not my favorite. I have had problems with batting pokies with it so I always stress a little until I get it going. It washes up beautifully though.
Corey
80/20 Hobbs is lightweight and thinner and drapes really well, and ever since I started using Filtec/Glide magnetic core bobbins, my pokies issues disappeared. QD 70/30 is better than warm & white/natural, a bit thicker also and less linty. I prefer QD wool because it does not have fold memory therefore good for show quilts and any quilt in my opinion. Hobbs Wool is very even and it is soft as butter to the touch, I like it. I also use legacy, not too fond of it because it is linty, but I like it for vintage look when washed. I use them all and keep them in stock. Lynn Heillman is Hobbs dealer, she should be able to tell you the price on their wool. Corey
Gator
I only use QD. Love it, don't have to worry about scrim. It's 10 minutes from my house. They don't have a "minimum" order and have specials often. You can also get rolls of "seconds" when available.
