aktbone Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 Any advice on the Cricle Lord vs the Hartley Fence would be greatly appreciated.
Sparkle Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I don't have an Hartley Fence, but I have something similar. But, it's not versatile like the Circle Lord ---at all. Go with the Circle Lord if you can. I don't use the stepping discs that much, but I sure use the template boards and stylus ---a lot!
njquiltergirl Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 If you do a search here on Circle Lord, you will find many loyal fans. I am one of them. It is a great tool. Well made - never a problem. The support from Michael and Kay (the inventors) is unmatched and the designs are beautiful. I like it because it is easy, fast and the designs are impressive. You won't regret your CL purchase. The long boards are the best!!
TerriVB Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Another circle making product you might want to consider is the Quiltazoid. http://www.quiltazoid.com/ Makes great circles and if you purchase the spiro attachment--you wil feel like a kid again--only this time making bigger spirographs on your quilts instead of paper like we used to do. Just thought you might want to check all your options as you were looking at circle makers. Plus the QZ is attached to the front of your machine so you can see exactly what you are doing.
Deb2bie Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 The Hartley product is strictly circles and cross hatching. The other 2 products mentioned have lots more attachments and things you can do with them. Of course you can do lots of things with the circles, Baptist Fan, concentric circles and some spiro graph type designs. I think CL and maybe QZ have the steps figured out in more detail than the hartley product does.
yankiequilter Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 There has been a lot of discussion about the Circle Lord vs. the Hartley Fence vs. the QZ, here are links to a few of them. I have the Circle Lord and love it! I can use if from the front and the only time I go to the back of the machine now are for pantos andd giant templates. Michael and Kay provide wonderful customer service and support, but actually the Circle Lord and all of its products are so easy to use that there isn't much need to contact them for support. They are available just about 24/7/365 and go out of their way to assure customer satisfaction. Michael is constantly developing new and innovative designs and templates that make our quilts look wonderful and professionally done. They have a great no interest payment plan that makes it easy to buy and own the Circle Lord and templates, and have a money back guarantee. And he has sales numerous times each year. I don't work for them but am a happy happy customer http://apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=26788&page=1#pid338204 http://apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=21161&page=1#pid257293 http://apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=19658&page=1#pid233978 http://apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=25394&page=1#pid318367
