What weight is best for new leaders

Someone on one of my lists mentioned that she made new leaders out of awning fabric - she bought remnants somewhere. They don't stretch and sag. Sounded like a good idea to me, but of course, I haven't tried it.

10oz duck cloth is the fabric to get, we can't really purchase it here in Australia. I've tried online but it then has to be shipped out of the US.

I do have a set of new APQS leaders here but with the cost of postage they would be more than $15.

Try your local upholstery place. You want very heavy duty canvas cloth.

Yáll may laugh at me, but I found a less expensive solution.. it is also a lot thinner to wind on the quilt, letting you turn more. It doesn't stretch, I use the Red Snappers and love them.

I buy the high count thread sheets at a store that is not even as high as Walmart or Kmart. Ive not seen any deterioration or wear in probably about 2 years. I had to hem one side and of course put the raw side on the roller. We used masking tape, and it stays put as it should.

Inexpensive, easy and adds roller space.
