LeeAnn
I have a new grandbaby on the way and it is a boy. I made our granddaughter an Angel Baby quilt for her baptism and I would like to make one for the new grandson but I wasn't sure if it was too "girly" for him. What else have all of you done for dedication quilts? I did think of doing the Angel Baby quilt in a light blue but that's not exactly angel colors. (not that I know what angels look like!) ffq-lar
Aren't they all angels as newborns? One in pale blue would be gorgeous. Or you could keep all the surrounding feathers but replace the halo with... A cowboy hat? A baseball cap? Two fingers-up in a vee--the classic "photo-bomb bunny ears" position. (I crack myself up sometimes!) A king's crown--like a little prince? I like that one! Please post photos of your finished project!
ffq-lar
Another thought--instead of the angel wings, stitch big butterfly wings and then "feelers" instead of the halo.
KathG
Hi LeeAnn, I think the Angel quilt would still be beautiful for your Grandson. I think it would be also be lovely in a delicate blue. As for Angels, I would guess they come in boys and girls
LeeAnn
Thanks for your responses. It's just that I haven't seen the Angel Baby quilt with baby boys on them. Linda, I love your alternate suggestions for the boy quilt! Thanks!
Sheri Butler
LeeAnn, I did one in BLUE for my "adopted daughter's" baby. I really didnt think the feather's were "girley" as baby's are babies to me. And the feather's were just the icing on the cake with it. What I did do however, was I couched on the name/date of birth, in the top center square, omiting the feather in there. I've tried posting pics of it, but for some reason, it won't allow me to do so on here. I can try again...
Sheri Butler
OMG, I found out I can not have an apostrophe in the saved picture. Asher's (note the apostrophe). I had to change it to Ashers baby quilt with no apostrophe!
JustSewSimple
I think a light blue-grey (we call silver blue) would be beautiful as a baby boy quilt! I love the one pictured above and Linda has great ideas as always (don't you all get tired of her being right all the darned time???;)) Love you linda! LeeAnn
Sheri, that is just beautiful!! I love how you put his name in it! Now you've given me confidence to do a blue one. I just hadn't seen any "boy" Angel Baby quilts.

peglu
I have also done several blue ones and they were loved by the moms. I did one of them in a deeper blue, but was not as happy with it as I was with the pale blue.
Quilting Heidi
I think you can definitely do the angel baby quilt for a boy. I would make the outside design a little more masculine. You could do ropes or some other geometric shape or even add in some other more "boy" motifs. I think every mom would cherish this quilt and always cherish their baby's pictures on them. quiltinchicks
Linda- I love your idea of the crown!
meg_marsh
this is pretty silly but after seeing the "Angel Baby" quilts I made someone suggested that I redesign for a little boy devil - keep the halo but add a little pointed tail. I haven't done this but thought it was a cute idea.
peglu
HA. I thought of that too Meg. Makes me laugh.
LeeAnn
Hmmmmm.....I don't think I'll do a little devil but I appreciate everybody's input. Thanks to all of you!
