cgstroud
Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on getting rid of stitch markings on a batik quilt I'm doing spirals on with my millennium.... I had to do a bunch of ripping out because I was having trouble with my top thread breaking, loosened my tension, put some sewer's aid on the thread, etc.......then got it going good on the top and noticed then that I was getting some looping on the bottom ( likely due to my tension on top being too loose?) - it was fine on the bottom before this.......now I'm wondering what to do to get the stitch marks out before I start quilting again. thanks! busybee
Cheryl Are you talking about the holes from the stitches. If so, spray some water on it and see if that will work. Depends on the colors, don't use warm or hot water on it till you check for color fast. Nita
Renae
I have used a spray bottle and sprayed water on mine and with my finger nail rubbed over the marks......if that doesn't work I have used the handle part of a spoon or fork.....then let it air dry or press it dry. cgstroud
Thanks Nita & Renae for the water tip.....I wondered about that but wasn't sure.......I did do some rubbing with my finger nail and that does help a lot........colors are blues mostly and some purple.... Bonnie
The only solid way to get out the holes in a batiks is when you are finished and finally bound to just throw it in the wash and give it a good washing. Now if its a customers quilt, do what you are doing and tell them it needs to be washed .... the threads are so tight they sometimes need the extra water to close completely. Judi
o.k. now - - too much baby talk going on around here! I read right over this post thinking it said "Stretch" marks!! Good thing I can still laugh at myself! Thought maybe someone else would want to too..... Just had to come back to it and see what some of the replies were! Oh boy! (or girl!?!) kennan100
Are you listening to this Jennifer & Jessica? This is important info you should break to your husbands gently. A word of encouragement tho, they DO fade out......eventually....
