lym95
Heidi, I'm convinced. Come on down and I'll teach you all I know. You might want to sign on some car-pool buddies to help with the gas...
Bonnie
I'll go....not only for the travel part, but I would love to learn as well. Basket weaving is also on my wants before death...I have been trying to find a basket teacher out here since I move east and haven't found one yet. Got on the computer looking for basket guilds and guess what one of the largest in the USA is right in Reno...lived there for 20 years and didn't even know it....was looking for classes there as well. Bonnie
MrMargie...you blow me away...your work is superb.... And I know nothing about caning....where you are weaving such a tight weave...is there a shuttle of some sort to get in and out or do you use just the reed? lym95
You just nip the end of the cane off to a point and start weaving. There is a step-by-step process, and it can be a bit tedious at times, but it's just over and under, over and under...
Bonnie
Well, then...it can't be totally brain surgery....I use to weave rugs and pot holders...and even did some beading on a loom (tiny but still) so this would just be another step higher on the food change of smarts.... lym95
April, you're just over the hill and across the valley from us, so you might as well come... I've been thinking, I've got a lot of chairs to get caned so if I can get a big group over here working I can get them done really quickly! mrmargie
April W
Are you planning a class in the spring? I could probably get away then?
lym95
I actually have no classes planned, but if you (or anybody else) would like to come for a day in the spring, Margie and I will teach you how to weave cane.
Bonnie
My thoughts right now are GREAT I'M there, but reality sets in and right now I would have to admit, the want is there, but the time not at this moment....

Bonnie
Heidi you are on....I'll have my social secretary call your secretary and see if we can find a block of time in 2009 - 2012 to do this......
Quilting Heidi
Sounds like a plan. If my center closes I may have a lot of time on my hands after June 30th ! Oh by the way Bonnie I saw can teach you how to make baskets! I used to teach it in NC. I'll have to play though cause it has been a long time! lym95
Hey! We can have a multicraft school. We can cane chairs, basket weave, cut stained glass and lead it, build cabinets, and work with bees. If we get really bored, we can do some algebra problems... If we could get someone to teach quilting, we'd be a well rounded group.
Bonnie
Margie...I'll do the quilt teaching, use to teach in Reno,....if you can handle teaching me Math...I so suck at math. If I had known I was going to be a quilter in my grown up life I would have paid a bit more attention in Geometry. And Heidi....someday I will take you up on your offer....I really really want to learn how to do utility baskets....and such....not the tiny stuff....bigger ones...that can be used for storage of fabric maybe.
lym95
That sounds great Bonnie! My specialty is Geometry. I taught it for nearly thirty years...

kennan100
The only math that ever made sense to me was Geometry. I always got terrible grades in Math, but really excelled in Geometry. Blew my folks away, they thought I'd cheated so I had to show them pysically that I could do it. Now Algebra....sorry, letters are not numbers and when they try to be my eyes cross and roll into the back of my head! Canng would be great! I love to go tour the antique and junk stores! Even the little ones that people have next to their homes, or stuck somewhere that they are never going to get any business. I found a Featherweight, case, inner tray, manuels and all, for 150.00 once. They just had no clue what it was!
