Primitive1
Well, I am stumped. This one just is not talking to me when it comes to the borders...my customer wants geometric quilting but I am not sure what to do in the borders. This is hand pieced so some of the seams are not perfectly straight so I am thinking something that does not accentuate the blocks....does this make sense? Something geometric but flowing at the same time.... any ideas would be most welcome!... Thanks!
Quilting Heidi
Vicki, Do squares or diamonds on point. Really easy to do and a great geometric border. You can stipple down the outside triagles and that really makes the squares pop. I did this on a quilt for my daughter who loves more geometric designs and she loved it. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about.
Sandra Darlington
Wowser, Heidi, that is gorgeous!
Quilting Heidi
Thanks Sandra. I did this one several years ago. My daughter pieced it. She hadn't pieced anything since she was about 10. I really had fun doing this quilt and that small & big square border is still one of my favorites. It was so easy to do.
LadyLake
You might want to do 1/2" channeling on the black. All of the blocks have angles, and the straight up and down of channeling would be a counterpoint to that. I'd put my time into the blocks and stay simple with the border. Primitive1
Joan, What do you mean by channeling? Is that the same as beadboard or piano keys in the borders? By the way Heidi, that really helps and I really like that idea....hmmmmm.. Thanks so much!
LadyLake
Vicki, Yes, channeling is the same as bead board or piano keys. What you could do is have channeling coming out on all sides of the block borders, and then do Heidi's triangle idea in the corners between each block. Or stipple every other channel down, too. Just some thoughts! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
TerriVB
YOu could do piano keys or bead boarding diagonally with the attic windows.
LinneaMarie
I think I might put cathedral points and do curved cross hatching in them. just a thought.
